Worst. Congress. Ever. Update; Phil Hare

As if to confirm my recent post about the current Congress, Phil Hare recently announced that he didn’t care about the Constitution and proceeded to mix it up with the Declaration of Independence, summarizing by saying that both are unimportant in the current debate over health care.

This video is all over the net, so I won’t repeat what he said. In light of his just released video defending himself, I will state that he did not make his original statement about the constitutionality of the health care bill, he specifically juxtaposed “the Constitution” against “Americans who are dying who can’t afford health care”, choosing the one against the other. Logically, that statement is a rejection of the Constitution in favor of the Americans who can’t afford health care. His claim now that he was referring to whether or not the bill was constitutional is absurd in the face of his very clear original statement.

The interesting thing here is that having a guy who is a Member of the House of Representatives say he doesn’t care about the Constitution is exactly like contracting a lawyer to represent your interests in a vital matter, and then asking him why he didn’t take the action that is in your interest, only to be told that he “doesn’t care about the contract” which is what he signed when you hired him. That is blatantly illegal, and if there is no recourse, no protection for the citizen if he can do nothing to get rid of the rogue man supposedly representing him and empowered to speak in his name.

What has to happen in this case is simple; Phil Hare should not be rejected by voters in November. If he gets that opportunity, it will be a failure for our system. This is a man who swore a solemn oath to “preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States of America”, and then later stated that he didn’t care about it. He should be investigated for falsifying an oath, and removed from office. The only legitimacy he has to sit in that Congressional seat is due to the Constitution. That is the contract under which he is employed. If he states that he does not consider it important, he must be subject to termination as a Representative immediately.

On the one hand, I have to thank Phil Hare because he is clearly illustrating my point that this Congress is the most blatantly elitist and corrupt in memory. On the other hand, I am simply outraged that a guy like that is dirtying our beautiful United States Capitol building by his malodorous presence.
